On this episode of The Vonu Podcast, Kyle and I revisit the subject of vonu shelters/vonu home bases after 5 years of experience, thoughts, and theorizing on the subject.
In this first part 1, we revisit van nomadism, pedestrian nomadism, living on a sailboat, and a few other sub-topics.
Part 2 (covering vonu in cities, underground shelters/troglodysm, “radical” housing” and P.A.Z.NIA as a new model) will be released in the very near future.
SHOW GUIDE
- Week-to-week updates — same ol’, same ol’
- An introduction to vonu home bases/vonu shelters; summary from VonuPodcast.com/25 and the plan for this one
- Revisiting van nomadism
- It’s a “no” in the USSA for Rayo2 now; maybe in Mexico, but being vulnerable on government roads a lot doesn’t seem attractive
- Kyle begins by re-defining mean-time to harassment (VonuPodcast.com/10)
- Kyle’s recent bludg stop — no problem, maybe treated differently since he’s “closer” to a cop as private security?
- Kyle: if you’re going to pursue van nomadism/be a van nomad, you’re going to get harassed by the bludg. Role-play police interrogations.
- Pedestrian nomadism: ideas, developments, considerations?
- Shane/Rayo2: looking into freight hopping + abandoned ghost towns; higher MTH with freight hopping, believe it or not — this would likely be combined with wilderness vonu
- Van nomadism health/liberation note: if you’re driving a lot, you have to take extra good care of your back and body since you might be immobile a lot of the time; stretch a lot!
- Van nomadism: it might be feasible if you’re entirely self-contained and don’t move much — invisible vonu van nomadism
- Living on a sailboat revisited!
- Shane/Rayo2: minimalist sailboating is still highly attractive considering the anarchy of the high seas.
- If you can be self-contained, i.e. generating breakthrough energy from monoatomic production aboard, growing food on an uninhabited island or floating dock, etc., and only need to “go to port” once or twice a year, it’s feasible
- Small scale: individual or small community…great!
- Bigger applications (floating hotels, decommissioned aircraft carriers, etc.) possible, but unlikely in near term
- Kyle: Bludg enforcement FAR lower on the ocean, even if you’re near the coast
- Shane/Rayo2: when entering a port of entry, it’s far worse than driving a car, flying internationally, etc. — you’re supposed to check in with ~5+ government bureaucracies
- If you knew the ports-of-entry that were lax or more chill on these things, that would be valuable knowledge
- Role-playing port-of-entry interrogations? Minimalist sailboating is great, as YOU are the initiator of the coercive interaction; lots of time to prepare — not the case with traffic stops
- Handling said interactions at port-of-entry is a proxy merchant service idea
- Shane/Rayo2 provides a conclusion and “what’s to come”
- Kyle closes out with mean-time to harassment and it’s critical role in an optimal vonu shelter
